What is an Estonian e-Residency card and how to obtain one

Advantages of setting up a company in Estonia via the Internet

  • This is the most cost-effective way to set up a company because you do not have to notarise a power of attorney, come to Tallinn, pay the notary fees and commission a translation.
  • There is no need to pay a special visit to Tallinn to complete the registration.

Disadvantages of setting up a company in Estonia via the Internet

  • The process of registration is somewhat lengthy because despite a rather quick registration of the company via the Internet (one to two days), it will take you about a month to obtain the Estonian e-Residency card.
  • It is not possible to use this method of registration if the founder is a legal person from outside Estonia (for example, a company from Russia or Ukraine or an off-shore company).
  • This method of registration cannot be used if the company is supposed to have several shareholders but not all of them can or want to obtain an e-Residency card.

Time frame
